Obituary for Emory Wilson Bell
Emory Wilson Bell passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at his residence in Jackson, Mississippi. He was 26.
A native of Charleston, South Carolina, born January 21, 1992, he was the son of Natalie Campbell Bell and the late Kenneth Emory Bell. Emory was an undergraduate of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he received two baccalaureate degrees: a bachelor’s in physics and a bachelor’s in creative writing. Emory had a passion for writing and wrote numerous poems and short stories. He was proud to be a published fiction author. Emory worked in Atlanta and Los Angeles as the curriculum director for tutoring centers.
Emory was an optimistic, confident, talented young man with an infectious smile who loved life. He was kind and tenderhearted and had a special way of making those around him feel good about themselves. Emory had many friends and colleagues whom he adored. He loved his family and they, too, loved him dearly. He was a wonderful and loving son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and faithful friend.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Emory Bell; paternal grandfather, Wilbur Bell; and his maternal grandmother, Janie Clayton.
Emory is survived by his mother, Natalie Bell, of Jackson, MS; grandfather, John Campbell, Sr., of Maryville, TN; grandmother, Molly Nordstrom, of Tallahassee, FL; aunts: Laura Wheeler, of Asheville, NC; Amy Campbell-Rochelson, of Maryville, TN; and Allison Clayton, of Charleston, SC; uncles: John Campbell Jr., of Knoxville, TN; John Bell, of Tallahassee, FL; and Allen Bell, of Crestview, FL; cousins: Elizabeth Wheeler, Emily Wheeler, Alex Wheeler, Lucy May Clayton; Sara Fordyce, Josh Bell and and last but not least, Emory loved and adored his cat, Mazuma, who will miss him greatly.
Services will be private, however, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Emory’s name to the ACLU at
