Gary Bernard Clark passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, after a severe stroke he had on Monday, February 27th around 9:15 p.m. Visitation will be at the Sebrell Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday April 16, 2023 from 1:30-2:00. A celebration of his life and his love for his family, friends and our Lord and Savior will be immediately following visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
Gary was born on July 27, 1943, in Eldorado, Illinois to Vera Mae Hardesty Clark and Arthur Bernard Clark. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1961. He was an exceptional athlete lettering in Football, Track and Wrestling. While at Reitz, he met the love of his life, Verba Lee. On July 27, 1961, he and Verba were married. After living and working in various states, Gary and Verba settled in Jackson, Mississippi where they bought Jackson Lighting Center.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Vera and Arthur Clark and grandson, Dalton Lane Clark.
Gary is survived by his wife of 62 years, Verba Clark, his children; Tina Renae Sellers (William), Scott Alan Clark (Jana), and Christopher Dean Clark (Rena); sister, Rita Beer, Brother, Terry Clark, his grandchildren, Krystin Flowers, Jason King, Darla McDaniel, Madison Clark, Kaitlyn French, Alisa Clark, Mickinzi Moon, Kennedy Anderson and 7 great grandchildren.
Gary’s greatest joys were his faith, family, friends, and a great passion for Christian worship. He and Verba loved traveling the country in their motor home and around the world in their senior years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
The family would like to sincerely thank the doctors and many staff professionals at St. Dominics Hospital and Hospice Ministries for their outstanding care for Gary after his stroke and making his final days comfortable.
