Bill and Martha moved to Jackson in 1962 where Bill worked for Mississippi Valley Gas Company until he retired in 1987 as Vice President of Rates and Pipeline Supply. It was also during this time that he was awarded the most creative design for natural gas transportation rates by the American Natural Gas Association. In 1987, he started his own company, Utility Management Corporation, and served as President until his retirement in 1999. Bill was certified as a professional engineer in both Louisiana and Mississippi. In 2007, he was awarded Life Member Status in the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Mississippi Engineering Society. In 2012, he was given special recognition by the governor of Louisiana for his 59 years of licensure as a professional engineer with the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board.
Bill was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry in various capacities. He was a long-time member of the Rotary Club and also served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ira C. and Willa Randolph, his sister, Joanne Randolph McAlister, and his wife, Martha.
