Margaret Evelyn Murray Hammett passed away on October 30, 2017, in Ridgeland, Mississippi. She was born in San Francisco, California, on March 9, 1926. She grew up in Los Angeles and studied architecture at the University of California at Berkeley, graduating in 1949. There she met her future husband of forty years, Henry K. Hammett, Jr.
Margaret and Henry raised two sons in Greenville, Mississippi. She developed many friendships during those years. She loved corresponding with relatives and friends and loved sunsets, beautiful buildings, and classical music. She spent her last twenty years in the Jackson, Mississippi, area and her final years at Chateau Ridgeland.

Hammett and William H. Hammett (Jan), her grandsons David S. Hammett and Daniel J. Hammett, her sister Doris Souza, and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
