Obituary for Marilyn Jean Asbill
Marilyn Jean Asbill, age 87, was born in Quanah, Texas, to Velma and Horace Campbell. She
passed away on December 19, 2021 at her home in Madison, Mississippi, surrounded by loved
ones.
Her family moved to the family farm outside of Frederick, Oklahoma, when she was young. She
graduated from Weaver High School and went to Oklahoma State University for a short time.
She married Jimmie Asbill, her beloved husband of 67 years, in 1954. Upon his graduation
from Texas Tech University, they moved to New Jersey, where Jimmie was stationed in the
Army. They then moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, for several years and were transferred to
Jackson, Mississippi, for the rest of Jimmie’s career.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Velma and Horace Campbell, two infant
brothers, and her sister, Martha Jane Williams.
Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband, Jimmie Asbill of Madison, Mississippi; her children
Kyle (Deborah) Asbill of Madison, Mississippi; Kim (Randy) Hensarling of Denison, Texas; Darin
(Anne Marie) Asbill of Lewisville, North Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren:
Justin, Jayson, Juliana, and James Asbill of Mississippi; Keith, Katie, and Colton Hensarling of
Texas; and David and Ruth Anne Asbill of North Carolina. She is also survived by one greatgrandchild, Isaac Hensarling, of Texas.
Marilyn’s church family was very important to her. She was lovingly known as “Mrs. Marilyn” to
the many children she taught in Bible Class over the course of 45 years.
A memorial service is pending at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions
be made in Marilyn’s name to GTO Mexico Mission Work of Lake Harbour Drive Church of
Christ in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
