Obituary for Charles Herbert Haddad
Charles Herbert Haddad fell asleep in the Lord Monday, November 15, 2021
Visitation will be on both Friday, November 19th from 4:00 – 5:30 and Saturday November 20th from 9:00 -10:00 at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, 414 East College Street in Clinton. Services will be Friday at 5:30 pm and the Divine Liturgy will be on Saturday at 10:00 am followed by the burial in the adjacent Clinton Cemetery.
Charles leaves behind his daughter and caretaker, Amy, son Christopher and his wife Lauren, sister Claudia and her husband Michelle as well as grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Melinda, beloved wife of 59 years, Vivian, parents, Charles and Mary and sisters, Yvonne, Marlene, and Helen.
Charles was born on April 29, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from the School of Industrial Arts in Manhattan. He served both in the Navy and Air Force, receiving honorable discharges from both. He started his career with IBM in Armonk, NY. On October 27, 1956 Charles married Vivian Brown, a Mississippi girl and the love of his life. They moved to Mississippi in 1971. They remained married and inseparable for 59 years until her death in 2015.
Charles lived a wonderful life and always had a story to tell. Memories of spending time working on a dairy farm as a young man and time spent in the military. Stories of going for helicopter rides with the CEO of IBM, Tom Watson and his mother at the 1964 World’s Fair. Meeting Charles Eames and General Eisenhower taking a rest in his office. Some of his fondest memories were when he became involved with his children in 4-H showing livestock.
In his retirement years Charles became a volunteer at the Blair Batson Children’s Cancer Clinic. He drew portraits and funny pictures for the kids to bring a smile to their faces. He had a heart as big as the world and he shared it with everyone. He was a warm and beautiful soul and the world is a lesser place without him. His passing leaves an unbearable ache but solace comes with knowing he is with his beloved wife and his cherished daughter now. Keep smiling Dad. I love you. A.
