Obituary for Melody Joy Singleton
Melody Joy Singleton passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Crystal Springs, MS. She was 43. Melody was born in Jackson, MS on April 24, 1978 to Melvin and Sherry Joyner Watson. Melody graduated from Watson Homeschool Academy, attended Hinds Junior College on a full scholarship in Music, earning her AA degree, then attended William Carey University in Hattiesburg on scholarship, where she earned her BA degree in Music Education. Two weeks after graduating college on May 26, 2001 she married the love of her life Steven Singleton. She was an active member of Jackson First Assembly where she was engaged in teaching children & leading children’s musicals. Melody & her boys were part of a homeschool community, Classical Conversations, where she was a tutor & had wonderful friends. Her heartbeat was being a wife to Steven & mom to Cole, Dean, Grant & Sam. Melody loved her extended family and looked forward to holidays when she would see everyone. Over the last 20 months her faith in a God that heals, her huge smile, encouraging words of faith & scripture spoke into thousands of lives. She will be so missed by so many.
Melody is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Leon and Irene Watson and her maternal grandmother, Geraldine Joyner. She is survived by her parents, Melvin & Sherry Watson; grandfather Charles Joyner(wife Pat); her loving husband of 20 years, Steven; her four boys, Cole, Dean, Grant, and Sam; her brother Lee Watson (wife Gretchen) their children Levi, Garrett, McKenzie, Abby & Wade; Brother in law John Singleton (wife Nicky), Sister in law Marie Singleton Hayden(husband Chad) their children, Lorelai, Pierce & Jude and a host of Aunts, Uncles & cousins.
A memorial service will be Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at Jackson First Assembly, 6339 MS-18, Jackson, MS 39209, at 10:30 with Rev. Wayne Hall officiating. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:30.
