Obituary for Vera Fay Cavin Gordy
Vera Fay Cavin Gordy died on Thursday, May 27, 2021 in her beloved Northeast Jackson home. She was 96.
A native of Wilkerson County, Mississippi and born on December 2, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Herschel and Lora Hastings Cavin.
Mrs. Gordy was a longtime resident of Jackson and had been very active in her life enjoying various garden club s, auxiliaries, and bridge clubs. She was a longtime, active member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church for most of her life.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her five brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff Gordy and Greg Gordy (Mara); granddaughters, Tabitha, Andrea and Alyx; sister, Martha Cavin; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that were just as much family.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family from 6 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, June 1st at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, June 2nd at Oaklawn Cemetery in Centreville, Mississippi.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made New Directions for Over 55 Wellness Program at St. Dominic’s or to a favorite charity.
