Obituary for Merle Allen Dean
Merle Allen Dean passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. She was 74. Merle was born on December 17, 1946 to the late Ernest Allen, Jr. and Merle Buckley Allen. She is a native of Mississippi. She was a longtime active member of Northminster Baptist Church where she served in multiple capacities, such as, deacon and a caregiver.
Merle is preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her mother, Merle Buckley Allen of Madison, MS; her son, Shawn W. Dean (Laura) of Flora, MS; her daughter, Shannon Gammill (Quentin) of Oxford; brother, James B. Allen (Kay) of Jackson, MS; Diane A. Bennett (Lee) of Diamond Head, MS and Mary A. Mathison (David) of Hilton Head S.C.; grandchildren, Katherine Polzin (Zach), James Brock (Carmen), Isabella Dean, Ann Mabry Dean and Mary Frances Dean; great grandchildren, Bodie Polzin, Rivers Polzin and Grouse Brock.
A private memorial will be Friday, April 16, 2021 at Northminster Baptist Church Columbarium at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested for all donations to be made to Gulf Coast Christian Women’s Job Corps P.O. Box 6023 Diamond Head, MS 39525.
