Obituary for Judy Bowen Buchanan
Judy Bowen Buchanan died on Monday, March 29, 2021 at Merit Health Central Medical Center. She was 63.
Born in Jackson on September 11, 1957, she was the daughter of Mary Neblitt Bowen and the late Johnny Bowen. She was raised in Greenwood where she graduated from Greenwood High School.
Judy loved her family. Her heart was especially devoted to her very special relationship with her granddaughter, Kaitlyn. For many years, she and her husband were active in bowling leagues in Greenwood and Jackson. She enjoyed shopping and going to the Farmers Market. She attended Southside Baptist Church for many years.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Ben Buchanan, of Ridgeland; son, Johnathan Bishop, of Brandon; daughter, Mary Beth Champion (Corey), of Fortville; son, Ben F. Buchanan, Jr. (Julie), of Houston, TX; her mother, Mary Bowen, of Southaven; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Alexis Buchanan, Haley Champion, and Brody Champion; sisters, Jean Zimmerly (Louis), of League City, TX and Linda Holmes (Wallace) of Southaven; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Visitation will begin at 1 pm until the hour of the service.
