Obituary for Herbert S. Akers, Jr.
Hebert S. Akers, Jr., 93, died, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Hospice Ministries. A service will be held at the Trinity Mausoleum at Parkway Memorial Cemetery in Ridgeland. Born on January 7, 1928 to Herbert S. Akers and Esther Akers in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, he graduated from Montvale High School. Mr. Akers continued his education at Delaware Valley University in Doylestown, PA, where he played on the football team. After earning his degree in Animal Husbandry, he served his country as a soldier in the Army National Guard. Mr. Akers was a born salesman, throughout his career he sold, feed, seed and other animal supply, refrigeration units and ended his career selling design/build services for banks and financial institutions. In 1997, after his wife, Jean died, he moved to Pensacola, Florida. Mr. Akers was a member of Perdido Bay United Methodist Church where he loved volunteering and helping others. He moved to Chateau Ridgeland in 2016. Along with his parents, Herbert S. Akers and Esther Akers, he is preceded in death by his siblings and his wife, Jean Louise Akers. Survivors include: son, Herbert Akers and his wife Hazel of Pearl, MS; son, Edward Akers and wife Christine of St. Charles, MO; son, Mark Akers and wife Renee’ of Raymond, MS; son, John Akers and wife Becky of Brandon, MS; grandchildren, Kelly Savell, Kristen Watler, Matthew Akers, Ed Akers and Tyler Akers along with many great grandchildren. The family is grateful for all the staff at Chateau Ridgeland and Assisting Angels for the care and compassion they provided to Mr. Akers and his family.
