Obituary for Kenneth Ray Clements
Kenneth Ray Clements passed away on January 30, 2021 after a brief illness.
Ken was born on August 28,1937 in Bastian, VA to Ruth Harmon Clements and Ernest Edward Clements. His family moved to Laurel, MS when he was a young child and then to Jackson, MS soon after.
He was educated in the Jackson Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1955 from Central High School. He had many fond memories of playing baseball for CHS. He joined the US Navy after graduation spending four years in military service.
Ken made many long term friends in Jackson while owner of his men’s clothing store, Ken Clements, Ltd. He later had a long career in management for transportation and courier services in Mississippi and Louisiana.
Ken was active in First Christian Church while living in Jackson. He served as Sunday School president, Deacon, and Elder. He was a board member and officer of several civic and cultural organizations.
Ken greatly enjoyed the company of his family and that of his extended family who frequently gathered in Terry. He enjoyed travel including numerous trips to see soccer matches coached by his son Steve.
He is preceded in death by brothers Douglas and Harold Clements. He is survived by sons Steve Clements of Tyler, TX and Scott Clements (Julie), of Terry, MS, their mother Carolyn Clements, grandchildren Connor and Kaelin Hanson, Brother Jack Clements of Madison, nieces Kathy Demarais, Lisa Johnson, Robin Hicks, Terri Lynn C. Daniels, Barbara C. Touchstone, and nephews Christopher and Phillip Clements and Gary Johnson. Special to him also were great nieces and nephews Jennifer Reaves, Christopher and Brian Demarais, Mindy McNair, and Justin Hicks.
A graveside service for family members is planned for Saturday, February 27 at the Terry Cemetery, Rev Joe Ronald Kitchens officiating, with interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Gateway Rescue Mission.
