Obituary for Winfred Warren "Wimp" Jordan
Winfred Warren “Wimp” Jordan passed away on February 16, 2022 at the age of 87 at his home in Madison, Mississippi. He battled heart disease for many years but continued to enjoy family, friends and yard work. Wimp’s last day was a fulfilled day and he laid down to nap and went peacefully in his sleep.
Winfred met the love of his life, Barbara, in elementary school and they were married September 12, 1953 at the Simpson County Court House in Mendenhall, Mississippi.
He was a Mason at the Circle Lodge #638 in Madison, Mississippi. He worked for various commercial construction companies across Mississippi. He was a faithful member at the Old Rice Road Baptist Church where he enjoyed a good cup of coffee at the men’s breakfast. As a child, Winfred was a high-spirited young man and enjoyed basketball. As an adult he enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting.
His favorite past-time was cutting grass with his X-Mark and would mow anybody’s grass if they would let him. He loved telling stories about the good old days and an occasional joke.
Winfred is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Andrew and Ina Aletha Jordan; his sister, Verna Mae Ardener and a daughter, Donna Gail. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Elizabeth Clark Jordan; three sons: Nathan “Bo” (Kay) Jordan, Steven Winfred (Pam) Jordan and Randy Darrel Jordan; five grandchildren: Melissa (Yancey) Jayroe, Julye (Jovan) Bjelobrk, Amanda Jordan, Cecily (Josh) Allen, and Warren Jordan; four great-grandchildren: Brinna Bjelobrk, Shelby Jayroe, Ella Bjelobrk and Jordan Jayroe; one brother, George W. Jordan, and two sisters, Shirley Thames and Betty Gregory; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to his doctor, Myrna Alexander, for taking such good care of him over the past 25 years.
Winfred will be honored with a celebration of his life on Saturday, February 19 , 2022, at Old Rice Road Baptist Church, 82 Old Rice Road, Madison with visitation between 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Service will be held at 11:00 at the church with interment at Sharon Cemetery in Magee, Mississippi at 2:30 pm.
