Obituary for Wilma Cujette Gilmore Hood
Wilma Cujette Gilmore Hood, 85, died September 25, 2016, at home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2016 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Jackson. Visitation will be 6 PM to 8 PM Thursday at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland and 10 Am Friday at the church. Mrs. Hood was born on July 15, 1931 in Sebastopol, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Lee Austin Gilmore and Hattie Maude Bailey Gilmore. Mrs. Hood was a licensed cosmetician for 25 years and represented Estee Lauder at McRae’s Gayfer’s and Niemen Marcus. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and loved singing in the Joy Sr. Adult Choir. She was also a member of New Directions at St. Dominic’s. Mrs. Hood enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and going to lunch together before they played. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Norris Smith, Jr. and John Hood. Also preceding her in death are brother, Montell Gilmore and sister, Margie McDiarmid. Mrs. Hood will most be remembered as a loving mother, a devoted grandmother and great grandmother a devoted sister and friend to all who knew her.
Survivors include: daughter, Tammy Glaze (Tony) of Ridgeland; grandchildren, Amber Williams (Anthony) of Collinsville, MS; Nikki Case (Craig) of Brandon; Ken Rainey, III of Meridian; Annika Day (Michael) of Muncie, IN; Erica Cook (Keith) of Stillwater, OK; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, George Gilmore of Jackson; Melvin Gilmore (Sara) of Florence; James Gilmore (Alfa) of Brandon; Wendell Gilmore of Brandon; and Kenny Gilmore (Linda) of Brandon along with many nieces and nephews
