Obituary for Willis Ray Boyd, Jr.
Willis Ray Boyd, Jr. passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. He was 87. Willis was born on February 13, 1935 to the late Willis R. and Flora Williams Boyd. He was a devoted member of Memorial United Methodist Church who served the nursery minister faithfully for 47 years and in other capacities in the church and the community. He served in United States Army and National Guard and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was employed by Mississippi Power and Light or Entergy for 38 years and retired in 1995. Willis is a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed greatly. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Homer Boyd and his sister, Bettye Berryhill. Willis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Bess Boyd of Bolton, MS, his daughter, Rachel Rawls and her husband, Ben, and his grandchildren, Scott Rawls and Ellen Rawls and her husband, Greg Pawel. Funeral services are set for Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Memorial United Methodist Church in Bolton at 11 AM. The visitation begins at 10 AM until 11 AM. Interment will be at Bolton Cemetery.
