Obituary for Willie Wayne Hodges, Jr.
Willie Wayne Hodges, Jr., 74 passed away at St Domonic Hospital early Saturday morning March 26, 2022. Wayne was the son of Wayne Hodges, Sr of Hazlehurst and Thelma Crisco Burnett of Fairfax, VA. He attended Hazlehurst High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a retired business owner.
Wayne loved sports in general especially the Ole Miss Rebels. He rarely missed a game until his health failed him. After that he spent countless internet hours as an avid member of the Ole Miss Spirit Board and could tell you anything from who was in the transfer portal to who they were recruiting for future classes.
Wayne never missed a game his kids played and when his grandkids started playing, he was so excited and determined to go to the games that he bought a scooter to get around to the fields.
Wayne was a member of Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence. He dearly loved his faith family. Wayne is survived by Patty Neal Hodges, his wife of 53 years, daughter Kim Hodges Heggins of Richland, son Steven Hodges (Angela) of Florence and daughter Lauren Lane Hodges of Brandon. His grandchildren Tyler and Haley Grace Heggins and Brayden Lane and Daylyn Jewel Hodges along with his fur babies Arlo and Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Wayne Hodges Sr. and Thelma Crisco Burnett and his daughter Aprille Annette Hodges.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services at the County Line Baptist Church Cemetery.
