Obituary for William James (Bill) King
William James "Bill" King, 81, lost his courageous battle with cancer, Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Hospice Ministries of Ridgeland. Funeral services will be held Saturday Oct. 8, 2016 at 1:00 p.m at Colonial Heights Baptist Church, with visitation at the church on Friday, Oct. 7, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 and again at 12 noon Saturday, at Colonial Heights. Bill was born June 30, 1935 in Tupelo, MS to James Vardaman King and Rena Carson King. He graduated from Tupelo High School where he excelled in football and continued playing for Itawamba Jr. College. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi and Jackson School of Law. Bill's career fields were banking and sales. Much could be said of his character and servant heart. Perhaps the best description is he was a true Southern gentleman who loved his Lord, his family and his church. He was an active member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church where he served as a LIFEgroup Leader, teacher and usher. Bill is survived by his wife of 30 years, Janice Waggoner King of Brandon; his daughter, Melinda King Kennedy (Kevin), of Clinton; daughter, Merideth Graham (Michael) of Brandon; and son, Ric White (Torie), New Iberia, LA. He also leaves his brother, Bud King of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Mary Gaines (Robert) Lexington, Tennessee and Martha Wilkerson, Tupelo. Grandchildren are Landon Kennedy (Gwen), Tupelo; Brennan Kennedy, Clinton, Connor and Ivy Caroline Graham, Brandon, and Jonah and Adeline White, New Iberia, Louisiana
