Obituary for William George Kelly, Sr.
William George Kelly, Sr., 91, died Monday, February 14, 2022, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Friday, February 18, 2022 at St. Richard Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2022, at St. Patrick Cemetery No.1 in New Orleans, LA. Mr. Kelly was born on January 13, 1931, in New Orleans, the son of the late John Lawrence Kelly and Augusta Dauterive Kelly. A graduate of Holy Cross High School, he continued his education at Loyola University in New Orleans. A veteran, he served his country in the Korean War as a United States Marine. Mr. Kelly worked for Exxon Mobil as a Marketing Manager his entire career, residing in New Orleans, Memphis and finally Jackson, MS. A resident of Jackson since 1965, he was a devoted father to his children and grandchildren. A faithful communicant of St. Richard Catholic Church, he served on the bereavement committee and as a co-leader of the small faith groups. After retiring from Exxon, Mr. Kelly became an avid golfer and loved playing with his many friends at Colonial Country Club and Deerfield Country Club. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Keller Kelly. He is survived by a son, William G. Kelly, Jr., and his wife Rene' of Houston, TX; son, John L. Kelly and his wife Mindy of Gonzalez, LA; daughter, Colleen Holliday of Madison; daughter, Tara McGowan and her husband Brian Pitts of Jackson; daughter, Erin Walsh and her husband Art of Mobile, AL; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.
