Obituary for William Alan Gray
WILLIAM ALAN GRAY
William Alan Gray died Wednesday, July 3, 2019 in Batesville. He was 70.
A native of and raised in Meridian, he was the son of the late W.C. and Lucille Pruitt Gray. He was a 1972 graduate of the University of Mississippi where he received his baccalaureate degree in business administration. For many years, he worked for the Baptist Health System and Memphis Mental Health. He retired from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety where he served in the Standards and Training Department.
Mr. Gray, along with his wife, attended Lakeland Presbyterian Church for many years where he was active in the choir and served as a deacon.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Susan Pearson Gray and a brother, Gene Gray.
He is survived by his children: son, William Christian “Chris” Gray (Kathy), of Carthage; son, Chandler Harris Gray (Ashley), of Oxford; daughter, Cealia Lisbeth Dickerson, of Jackson; grandchildren: Jordan Gray, Cameron Gray, Morgan Gray, Addie Dickerson, Aiden Dickerson, Maddie Gray and Parker Gray.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian.
Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, French Camp, or to the Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi.
