William Henry Thames, born October 26, 1947 died at home on January 16, 2021 from natural causes.
Bill or Billy was born in Jackson and attended Jackson Public Schools graduating from WB Murrah High School in 1965 where he had many friends. He played baseball in his younger years. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as a forward observer when he was 18 years old. He was a lifelong communicant of St. James Episcopal Church. After graduating from MSU, he was an oil and gas land man and received his law degree from Jackson School of Law. He checked titles for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William G. Thames and Maxine Ault Thames and his sister Ginger Thames Hovey, as well as many beloved pets, including Poppy his Cocker Spaniel, and Houdini his tuxedo kitty.
He is survived by his wife Jan Stewart Thames, sister Susan Thames Richter and niece Katie Richter Atkins and her husband Chris and son Sam. He also leaves behind his critters, Mika the German Shepard and the gang of kitties. We all love and miss him.
Memorials will be appreciated at the animal rescue of your choice. He was a firm believer in Spay and Neuter.
