Walter Bridges Robinson, 92, died August 2, 2021.

Funeral service will be Thursday, August 5th 2021. Visitation at First United Methodist Church Clinton, MS on Thursday, August 5th from 10:00 -11:45. Service to follow at noon.

Walter Bridges (Robbie) Robinson was born in Leachville, Arkansas on December 14, 1928, to the late Dr. Howard D. Robinson and Nan Robinson Cooley. He grew up in Mize MS where he enjoyed playing football for the Mize Bulldogs. He was a lifelong Ole Miss Rebel fan, and was proud of his father being the Captain of the 1921 Ole Miss football team.

He served in the Department of the Army before beginning his career with the telephone company, where he was given the name "Robbie". He retired from Bell South in 1988 with 36 years of service.

Walter was married to Sara Smith Robinson and they lived in south Jackson for many years before moving to Ridgeland in 2013. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clinton, a Legionnaire of the American Legion Post #112 and a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1426.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Vivian Robinson Dubreuil, step father, J. L. Cooley and step brother, Jimmy Cooley.

Walter, who was affectionately known as “Paw Paw” is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Sara Smith Robinson, their only daughter Sharon Robinson Jernigan, and her husband Jimmy; his grandson, Justin Bridges Jernigan, wife Anne Jernigan and their two sons, Jack Arthur Jernigan and James Bridges Jernigan; his granddaughter Kristen Jernigan Power, husband Logan Power and their two sons, Luke Hunter Power and Benny Freeman Power.

Memorials can be made to the Martha Ministry at First United Methodist Church of Clinton and the Mississippi Animal Rescue League.
