Obituary for Virginia McKean Blaylock
Virginia McKean Blaylock, 82, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Merit Health Madison. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 5, 2018 at Highlands Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland. A gravesides service will be held at the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael, MS. Visitation will be begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday at Highlands Presbyterian Church. Born Virginia Lee McKean in Baton Rouge, LA in 1935, the daughter of the late Alexander S. McKean and Granville O. McKean, she married Bobby Blaylock in 1955. A graduate of University High in Baton Rouge, she attended Louisiana State University for 2 years. She was mom and wife of an Air Force pilot; worked in real estate sales in Florida for 10 years; she served as property appraiser for the state of Louisiana; served as assistant to the editor of the Presbyterian Church in America magazine; served on the national Bethany Christian Services board of directors as well as local boards in Louisiana; she served as a Girl Scout troop leader; Sunday school teacher, and choir member. She is survived by her husband, Bobby Blaylock of Madison; children, Dewey Blaylock and wife Patti, Laura Blaylock Garner and husband Bobby, and Stacey Blaylock Hall and husband Todd. Grandchildren are Justin Blaylock and wife Allie, Christy and husband Craig Kowalski, Leiah and husband Ken Sinclair, Bobby Garner and wife Courtney, Billy Garner and wife Kim, LauraAnn and husband Schaeffer Dane, Drew Garner and wife Ashlee, Laura and husband John Craig Patterson, Amanda and husband Brandon Pendegraft and Maggie Hall. Great grandchildren are Jake Garner, Will Garner, Trey Garner, Gavin Garner, Addison Garner, Hayes Garner, Chase Blaylock, Amelia Blaylock, Bryce Kowalski, Blake Kowalski, Liam Garner, Oliver Garner and Catherine Patterson. She is also survived by her brother, Alexander S. McKean, Jr and his wife Jane. Memorials may be made to Highlands Presbyterian Church, 160 Highland Colony Pkwy, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
