Obituary for Victor Meyer Hartung
Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant Victor.
Victor (Vic) Meyer Hartung was given life by his creator and was born on October 27, 1930, the child of Walter and Corda Hartung. He was reborn as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism on December 24, 1930, and took his place in the Communion of Saints to receive the precious gift of the Lord’s life-giving body and blood throughout his life.
On January 30, 1954, Vic received the gift of a beloved companion in his spouse Eunice (Lin) Wunderlich, and was blessed with the gift of four children, David (Leighann) of Starkville, MS, Richard (Debbie) of Brandon, MS, Patricia (Robert) White of Springdale, AR, and Susan (James) Holowach of Madison, MS.
After retiring with the rank of Major from the U.S. Airforce, Vic served his family, church, and community in various occupations, all the while employing his gifts as violinist, vocalist, and choir director with a number of church and community orchestras and ensembles. Finally, on December 22, 2018, God blessed Victor with a holy death and took him home to rest in the arms of Jesus to await the resurrection of the dead.
The Lord gives and the Lord takes away; blessed be the name of the Lord. We give thanks to God our Father through Jesus Christ, our Lord, for our brother Victor.
A funeral service will be held at 10: 30 AM Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Christ Lutheran Church with visitation preceding the service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Parkway Memorial Park Cemetery in Ridgeland.
