Valle Ragan Semmes, 91, of Ridgeland, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home. Valle was born on December 10, 1931, in Jackson, Mississippi, where she attended Central High School. Prior to retiring she was employed in the accounting department of Southern Living Magazine in Birmingham.
Valle enjoyed many varied interests including Bible study, fishing, nature, gardening, science, bridge, and birdwatching in her backyard. Her motto was, "teach your children about Jesus first and then teach them how to work hard".
She is preceded death by her parents, Hannah Basye Deal and William Paramore Deal of Raymond, Mississippi. She is also preceded in death by her son Stanley Lewis Ragan (Tammy) of Birmingham, Alabama. She is also preceded in death by her husband William Oliver Semmes.
Valle is survived by her daughter, Selena Ragan Nause (Charles) of Greenwood, Mississippi; her two grandsons, Charles Lamar Nause, III of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Taylor Tillman Nause, of Bend, Oregon. A niece, Arlene Deal Henderson, of Houston, Texas.
A private, graveside service is planned for immediate family on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 2 p.m., at the cemetery of Middlebrook United Methodist Church in Raymond, Mississippi. Reverend Richard Owens from Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenwood,Mississippi will officiate. Sebrell Funeral Home of Jackson, Mississippi is handling arrangements.
