GRIEF & HEALING
affirmations to uplift & help you through
each stage of the grieving process.
Be the first to share your favorite memory, photo or story of Travis. This memorial page is dedicated for family, friends and future generations to celebrate the life of their loved one.
We ask on behalf of the family that you keep your comments uplifting and appropriate to help all who come here to find comfort and healing.
On Thursday, February 4, 2021, Travis Webb Sistrunk, 70, made his last inappropriate comment and exited his rickety old body, having lived twice as long as we expected and way longer then he deserved. For all of you inquiring minds (nosey readers like me), his cause of death was pure stubbornness. The way he died is just like he lived; he wrote his own rules, fought authority and paved his own way.
Travis loved to make people laugh (mostly himself) and had a plethora of dirty jokes that he would tell at the most awkward times. Regardless, he always got a chuckle with his punch lines and sarcastic snap-backs. Most people thought Travis was crazy, and his family is here to confirm that this is, in fact, true. Though no doctor was ever able to properly diagnose him due to his wealth of knowledge and uncanny ability to quote Shakespeare, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison and many, many more.
He is survived by his three loving children; Bonnie, the bossy one, Harley, the hardheaded one, and Mallory, the mischievous one, whom he loved more than anything else in the world… except Mississippi State Football, cold Budweiser, MSU football, cigarettes, college football, room temperature Budweiser, dogs, Sex On The Beach (beer), fishing, and did I mention Mississippi State Football…?
Additionally, he is survived by his much older sisters, Margie Fondren, Delores Ivy and Amanda (David) Maddox, further proving that female life expectancy is much higher than that of males. Countless nieces and nephews, cousins and grandchildren.
Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Richmond and Mattie B. Sistrunk, his brothers, Rayford, Paul Davis, and Truman Sistrunk.
Travis will be missed by many and remembered by all who knew him.
In a final attempt to get the last laugh with a small dose of payback, the family is seeking donations to offset the expense of a very unnecessary public viewing which would have really aggravated Travis but gives us a hearty chuckle at his expense. Seriously, what would have made him the happiest is for you to either go have a cup of coffee or a beer with a friend and banter back and forth about his shenanigans or play a harmless prank on some poor unsuspecting soul. If we still haven't dissuaded you and you feel compelled to waste your hard-earned money to honor his memory, donations may be sent to: Sebrell Funeral Home, 425 Northpark Drive, Ridgeland, MS 39157, (601) 957-6946.
