Timothy Andrew Pressley, a longtime Jackson resident, passed away early Tuesday, November 6, 2023, his children were at his bedside. He was 69 years old. He is survived by his children Emily Benson (Benjamin) of Niceville FL, Jesse Pressley (Linzi) of Salt Lake City UT, and Maggie Napier (Hagen) of Asheville NC, and his beloved grandchildren Beatrice and Arthur Benson and Hagen Napier; he is also survived by his mother, Gladys Pressley of Flowood MS and his sister Cassandra Price (James) of Vicksburg MS.
Timothy was born in Booneville MS on June 16, 1954 to Robert ‘Dale’ and Gladys Pressley. The family moved around North Mississippi before settling in Jackson when Tim was in elementary school. Tim graduated from high school in Jackson in 1972. He lived in Jackson for the rest of his life.
He was employed by the state of Mississippi for 35 years, working as a printer in various departments, starting at the Employment Security Commission and retiring from The Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks in 2016. His children have fond memories of visiting him at work and of the homemade coloring books and fake money he would bring home.
Tim enjoyed being with his friends, many of whom were life-long. He never met a stranger and always enjoyed meeting people. He could often be found in conversation and loved to talk, about pretty much any subject. Tim loved music and had eclectic taste, he was never happier than when sharing his interests and discoveries. He enjoyed non-fiction books, history and loved the movies of Mel Brooks. He always enjoyed an array of sports as a player, spectator, and coach.
The thing Tim loved most was being a dad. He was always willing to jump into his children’s interests, from falling in love with soccer along side his children to spending hours building theater sets for high school plays. He had a knack for making memories out of the mundane. From making sleds out of cardboard boxes and sledding down Pearl River levees at the first frost, to making their own nature trails in the abandoned lot behind his house as a way to spend days with his kids. His family and friends will treasure their memories with him.
