Obituary for Thomas Watson Cline, Jr.
Thomas Watson Cline, Jr., 84, died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Hospice Ministries. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday in the Chapel of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison. Interment will follow in Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Madison. Mr. Cline was born on August 7, 1933, in Dalton, GA, the son of the late Thomas Watson Cline, Sr., and Tamar Mae Anderson Cline. He was graduated high school in Dalton, GA, where he played on the school basketball team. After graduation, he continued his education at Texas Wesleyan College in El Paso, TX for two years before enlisting to serve his country in the USAF. Mr. Cline served his country honorably throughout the United States and Guam. Upon his discharge, Mr. Cline returned to his education. He earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at El Paso. While at UTEP, Mr. Cline played on the college basketball team. After graduation from UTEP, he moved his family to Dallas, TX and began graduate work at North Texas State University. He began his career as Minister of Music at Scottsdale Baptist Church in El Paso, where he met his wife Ruth. Mr. Cline continued to serve as music minister for 14 years throughout Texas. While living in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Cline also began a career with American Mutual Insurance Company. In 1972, Mr. Cline moved his family to Jackson. He served as interim music minister at many Baptist churches including, Briar Hill Baptist Church, Pearson Road Baptist Church and Broadmoor Baptist Church. Mr. Cline retired at the age of 65 from American Mutual Insurance Company, however, he never lost his love for music and instilled in his family that same love and appreciation of music. He loved to restore old cars and old houses. Along with his parents and siblings, he is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Cline. Mr. Cline moved to Brandon in the late 1980's and married his wife Anne in 1999. They are members of First Baptist Church of Jackson. Survivors include: his wife Anne Cline of Brandon; daughter, Diana McNamara(Tom Jackson) of Haverford, PA; daughter, Tammy Thompson (Brad) of Madison; step-daughter, Laurie McKenzie of Brandon; grandchildren, Katherine McNamara of Nashville, TN; William McNamara of Haverford, PA; Tommy McNamara of Haverford, PA; Luke Thompson, Lydia Thompson, Miriam Thompson, Mikayla Thompson, Caleb Thompson all of Madison; brother, Mack L. Cline of Conway, AR and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the International Mission Board¸ https://www.imb.org/
