Tom Price died peacefully at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson on September 8, 2023, after suffering medical issues. Born September 4th, 1932 to George and Jewell (Rainey) Price in Meridian, Mississippi, Tom was one seven children. He was 91 years of age.
For many years, Tom worked a paper route until he moved to Jackson in order to attend Millsaps College, eventually earning a Degree of Divinity from Mississippi College. Tom had felt the call to Ministry since age 14. He was provided a car by his father, which he used to pastor to small country churches. He eventually served Fletcher’s Chapel full time until he enrolled in a Masters of Theology program at Emory University. Upon graduation from Emory, he served as the Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Yazoo City. Followiing his ministry in Yazoo City, Tom was appointed Pastor at a series of country churches which included Satartia, Scooba, Oakland Heights, and Aldersgate. From 1971 to 1977 he established the Contact-Teleministry in Jackson, which is still functioning today. Tom went door to door to establish founding members of Crossgates Methodist Church, which is thriving to this day. He continued with part- time appointment while establishing an insurance company that eventually would be affiliated with Nationwide. Tom finally retired at the age of 81, practicing his life-long love of photography.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Helvi Price of Brandon, Ex Wife Mary Catherine Price, and Daughter Mary Catherine (Cathy). In addition to his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his son Thomas David Price.
