Obituary for Thomas Bert Brumley
Thomas Bert Brumley, 96, of Brandon, MS, died peacefully October 3, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. A celebration of life will be held at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Brandon, MS, on October 18, 2017, at 10:30am.
Mr. Brumley was born in Mathison, MS on May 18, 1921, to Robert Ira Brumley, and Jimmie Ann Brumley. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Anna Marie, son Brent Brumley (Teresa) of Brandon , MS; sister Lillian Wilkins of Starkville, MS; daughter-in-law, Carole Brumley of West Covina, CA; grand children Madden and Parker Brumley of Brandon, MS; Steve and Nancy Brumley of West Covina, CA; Damian Thompson of Pearl, MS; Tyler Morris of Brandon, MS; and great grand children Osiris Thompson of Pearl, MS; Alexandria and Andrew Brumley of West Covina, CA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Brumley; sons, Kent Brumley, and Wendall Brumley; sisters, Louise Lofland; and Marjorie Worthington.
Mr. Brumley served four years in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. He was a member of the Military Police and was stationed onboard the USS Indianapolis. Upon discharge from the military in 1945 he continued his education. In 1950 he graduated from the University of Mississippi with his Juris Doctorate. The majority of his career was spent as a bond claims specialist with Transamerica Insurance Company.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, or Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital.
