Obituary for Theron C. Bishop

Private First Class Theron Connor “Bishop”, 19, of Pearl passed away unexpectedly, October 15, 2020. Theron was born November 6, 2000 in Waterville, Maine. After moving to Mississippi in 2005, he grew up in the Pearl Community, attending Pearl Schools, and participating in sports and scouting from a young age. Over the years he made many friends and friends that became like family.
Theron excelled in track, taking home numerous awards and ribbons in high jump and discus, during junior high and high school. He even made a trip in July of 2017 to compete in the Region 6 Junior Olympics, and at 16 years old finished 6th in the Region for 17-18 year old boys’ discus throwers. Theron was proud of the 3 State Championship Track & Field titles he was part of during his 4 years at Pearl High School.
Theron spent 9 years in scouting, and in January 2019 he accomplished what only 4% of Boy Scouts achieve, Eagle Scout. His Eagle Project involved hundreds of hours of community service rehabilitating the Pearl Center City Municipal Disc Golf Course after 8 years of overgrowth and disrepair. The project propelled him into a busy spring of recognition for his efforts. He was nominated for Keep Mississippi Beautiful Award and on April 25, 2019 won the First Place Individual Youth Award. On May 7, 2019 Theron was recognized by Mayor Jake Windham and the Board of Alderman for his service to the City of Pearl.
Just before graduating high school in May 2019, Theron decided to join the Army National Guard, and on April 24, 2019 he proudly took his Oath of Enlistment. He graduated from boot camp at Fort Jackson, SC on August 22, 2019, and immediately headed for AIT at Fort Eustis, Newport News, VA. While in training, he became a goofy, smiling, encouraging face to his fellow “brothers”, and was “looked up to by most of the soldiers because of his even temperament and ability to have fun (when appropriate)”. On March 13, 2020 Theron graduated Advanced Individual Training at Fort Eustis as a Black Hawk Helicopter Mechanic - 15 Tango (MFs).
Theron returned to Pearl after training and while awaiting transfer of his paperwork, started a job as a Vehicle Service Technician for Global Medical Response ambulance services in Jackson, MS. He had recently been expressing interest in EMT school and planned to further his career in Emergency Services as well as his military training and career path in helicopter mechanics.
Theron is survived by his mother Dorothy (Connors) Braley, father Jonathan Braley, and brother Hunter Braley of Pearl, MS. Grandparents: Arthur & Marion Emerson of Ridgeland, MS; John & Crystal Connors of Palermo, Maine; Steve & Sue Braley of Fort McCoy Florida; Carol Sowa of Dixmont, ME. Great grandparents Paul and Dorothy Floyd, Maine. Many Aunts, Uncles, great aunts and uncles, and cousins. Theron’s biological family members; father Tyler Bishop, siblings Autumn & Colby Bishop, grandparents Terry Bishop, Debra Bishop, special great grandmother Geraldine Bishop Davis, aunts, uncles and cousins.
