Obituary for Suzy H. "Martha Sue" Walker

We mourn the loss and celebrate the life of Suzy Hinton Walker: September 10, 1945 until October 28, 2023.

Born Marth Sue Hinton, she is preceded in death by parents Martha and Ellie Hinton and daughter Cynthia Lynn Warren. Suzy is survived by her husband Kenneth Walker; son Michael Lee Burnham, and grandchildren; Zachary Burnham, Michael Lee Burnham III, Amanda Rose Burnham, and Tyler Drake Warren; sister Sandy Sparkman and brother Judd Hinton.

Suzy graduated from Collins High School in Collins Mississippi. She went on to work at the governor’s mansion in Mississippi, then to Hyster equipment, and on to Hewlett-Packard. In her forties, she decided to become a nurse. During this time, she formed one of my favorite phrases. When Suzy shared she was going to nursing school, people would ask her if she knew how old she would be when she finished. She would loop them in the eye and say the same age I would be if I didn’t. After graduation, Suzy worked as a nurse for a nationally renowned surgeon at Mississippi sports medicine and finished her career retiring as a nurse at a hospice and terminal ward. I asked her if she was sure she wanted to be in a place where people often pass away. She said, she was good at making people’s last days the best that they could be. Suzy was an animal lover and a great friend. Our time spent together was cherished and she will be dearly missed. Peace and tranquility be with you.
