Obituary for Susan White Allenburger
Susan White Allenburger passed away at St. Dominic Hospital surrounded by her family on April 7, 2021. Susan was born on January 7, 1946 to Frances Graves White and Dan McKinnon White in New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended St. Martin’s Episcopal School from kindergarten through high school graduation in 1963. She was a student at the University of Mississippi where she made lifelong friends as a member of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity. While still in high school, she met her future husband, Alex, and after a lengthy courtship, they married in 1967 and moved to Jackson a year later. Over the next 50 years, she enjoyed her life in Jackson surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral. She treasured her friends and spent many happy hours with them in various organizations and clubs including the Junior League of Jackson, Gallery Guild, Jackson Symphony League, Mississippi Opera Guild, Heirloom Antique Club, Legacy Antique Club, Monday Club, and Thursday Luncheon Club. She and Alex dined and danced in the Calliope Club, Seventy Five Club, Holiday Dance Club, and Candle- Wasters Dance Club. Susan loved to travel and was fortunate to visit both the Arctic Circle and Antarctica as well as many other interesting destinations all over the world. She kept photographic albums of those adventures having a keen eye for the perfect shot. On any day of the week, she could be found in front of the television cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Christian Alexander Allenburger, IV, her parents, her brother, John Dan White, and her sister, Ann White Spencer. She is survived by her husband, Christian Alexander Allenburger, III, her daughter, Catherine McKinnon Allenburger Ashy and husband Brett, and her daughter, Emily Susan Allenburger Gordon. Susu is also survived by her adored grandchildren Brett Alexander Ashy, Jr., Susanna McKinnon Ashy, Andrew Heath Gordon, and Christian Patrick Gordon. There will be a Requiem Eucharist at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral on Thursday, April 15, at 11:00 am.
