Obituary for Susan Simmons Taylor
Susan Simmons Taylor, 65, died peacefully at home on Thursday, June 02, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 6, 2022, beginning at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, preceded by visitation at 10:00, and followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Susan was born on September 21, 1956, the daughter of the late Shelton Douglas Simmons and Mary Julia Speer Simmons. She was a graduate of Mississippi State University. While at MSU, she served as a Sigma Phi Epsilon little sister. Mrs. Taylor retired from South Central Bell, after working in management and customer service for 26 years. Mrs. Taylor enjoyed vacationing to the beach and loved watching hummingbirds, ducks and pelicans from her back porch overlooking the lake. She cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was known for kindness and generosity.
She is survived by her husband, Terrance Adrian Taylor of Madison; son, Trent Taylor and his wife, Kim, of Madison; daughter, Cara Stevens and husband, Joshua, of Brandon; grandchildren, Finley and Declynn Stevens; sisters, Dale Martiniere and Lindy McCown of Magee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Susan will be missed by her Boston terriers, Rudy and Shamrock, whom she loved dearly.
