Obituary for Semmie McComas
Semmie Sullivan McComas died Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at University of Mississippi Medical Center. She was 82.
A native of Covington County, Mississippi, born March 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Louella Hall Sullivan.
She was a graduate of Magee High School. She married John William McComas on January 18, 1960. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, beloved sister, caretaker and compassionate friend. She was a fashionable woman who loved her 15 years of service as an associate of D.H. Holmes. Above all she loved her husband and family . . . was committed to her children and enjoyed life to the fullest. She will be dearly missed by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John William McComas, in 2013, and a son, Williams Sanders “Bill” McComas.
She is survived by her son, John Wesley McComas, of Magee; daughters: Cynthia Gretchen Mackercher (Rob), of Birmingham, AL and Donna Lynn McComas Purser, of Brandon; brothers: Perry Bruce Sullivan and Mims Sullivan, both of Magee; grandchildren: Kristin Blakeney (William), Rob Roy Mackercher, Jr. (Beth); Donald Mark Mackercher; and John Wallace Purser; great grandchildren, Wills Blakeney and Rob Roy Mackercher III; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Mt. Olive, Father Lincoln Dahl, officiating.
