Obituary for Sarah L. Cole
Sarah Lou Cole Brandon
Sarah Lou Cole, 92, died Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Baptist Hospital. A graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August, 21, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Fannin Cemetery. Ms. Cole was born on September 26, 1928, in Mt. Olive, MS; the daughter of the late Ray and Tina Shoemake. She worked as operations manager of Morgan Keegan and Paine Webber before she retired. Ms. Cole was an avid tennis player, participating in numerous leagues at Parham Bridges. She continued her love for tennis well into her 80’s and also enjoyed playing dominos with her friends once a week. Most of all she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a faithful member of St. Marks’s United Methodist Church and currently attended First Baptist Church of Fannin. She will most be remembered as a loving mother, a beloved grandmother and great-grandmother, a cherished sister and friend to all who knew her. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Harry A. Stewart, Jr., and brother, Herman Shoemake and great grandchild, Olivia Cole Mathes. Survivors include, daughter, Carolyn Stewart of Morton; son, Bobby Fortenberry (Lynn) of Brandon; grandchildren, Todd Miller, Jeff Stewart, Scott Fortenberry; Jenna Mathes; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Earnest and Charles Shoemake both of Petal.
