Obituary for Sandra Neely Kelly
Sandra Neely Kelly, 72, died Friday, May 13, 2016 at Merit Hospital in Canton. A service will be held at 2:00 pm on May 25, 2016 at Grace Episcopal Church in Canton. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm in the Parish Hall. Mrs. Kelly was born on June 30, 1943, in Hattiesburg. The daughter of the late Pierre and Alpha Neely, Sandra spent her early childhood in Neely, MS, where she was the last member of the Neely family. A 1961 graduate of Murrah High School, she continued her education attending Ole Miss. While at Ole Miss, Mrs. Kelly was a member of the Chi Omega social sorority. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1966 from Belhaven College and a Master Degree in Library Science from North Carolina State University. Mrs. Kelly retired after many years of service as a librarian from the Madison Country Library System. A communicant of Grace Episcopal Church, she was known for her kindness and generosity, touching many lives wherever she went. She also will be remembered for her indomitable spirit through real adversity. Mrs. Kelly was a staunch Democrat. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thaddeus Otto Kelly, Jr. and son, Thaddeus Otto Kelly, III. Survivors include: son, Peter Kelly of Canton; sister-in-law, Virginia Kelly Bailus of Ridgeland; nieces, The Reverend Dr. Valerie Bailus of Pensacola, FL; nephew, David Henry Bailus, Jr. of Helena, AL; niece, Carly Tigrett Walker of Madison and many cousins and other loving family.
