Sandra Faye Shumaker (Sandy) Jones, 73, died Friday, December 10, 2021 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Flora with burial in Old Crystal Springs Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am Wednesday at the church.
Sandy was born on August 23, 1948 in Kosciusko, the daughter of the late Horace and Willie Brown Shumaker. A 1970 graduate of Gilfoy Nursing School through Baptist Hospital, she practiced as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years both in hospital settings and in private practice with her longest serving tenure associated with Dr. Boronow.
A member of First Baptist Church of Flora, she enjoyed cooking, reading, and helping people. Mrs. Jones cherished her grandchildren; she loved spending as much time with them as she was able.
She will most be remembered as a devoted wife, a beloved mother, a cherished grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip H. (Phil) Jones of Flora; daughter, Ann Jones Walker and husband Travis of Crystal Springs; grandchildren, Lilly and Wyatt Walker; sisters, Glenda Bryant of Leland; Sherry Hays of Greenville; Becky Alexander of Leland; Cindy Bingham of Kosciusko and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donations to Gideon’s International or a favorite charity are requested in lieu of flowers.
