Obituary for SMSGT James Bryant "Jake" Sullivan, IV
SMSGT James “Jake” Bryant Sullivan IV ,47, was received into his Heavenly Father’s arms on Saturday, February 11, 2017. He is healed. Jake was a resident of Brandon, MS and a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church. He attended North West Rankin High School and Mississippi State University where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Jake was a retired veteran of the Mississippi Air National Guard where he served his country in many roles. Among them Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom as well as many humanitarian relief efforts throughout his thirty years of service. He is survived by his father and mother James “Jim” Bryant Sullivan III and Marthalee Causey Sullivan, two loving sons, James “Jamie” Everett Barnhill and James “Jacob” Bryant Sullivan V, their mother, Sharon Silverman (Glen), his brother, John Aaron Sullivan and dear wife Marleigha and son Seth Orion Sullivan (Jake's beloved nephew.) Jake is survived by many loving extended family members.

In his spare time Jake enjoyed cheering for his favorite team, the New Orleans Saints, collecting sports memorabilia and spending time with his family and many friends. Jake is best known for his incredible sense of humor, quick wit and most of all his ability to make the best out of any situation. He is truly missed.

The best choice Jake ever made was accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior,
making his profession at Madison Baptist Church. God's plan for Jake was revealed.
His favorite Bible verse: "Jesus said, You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16)' Jake often said, "Tell someone you love them today." Jake was a good man. He lived with grace and gentleness. The love of Jesus Christ strengthens life.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Brandon (400 Grants Ferry Rd) on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 11:00 AM – 12:45 PM.
Jake requested memorials be made, in lieu of flowers, to the American Cancer Society or Mississippi Animal Rescue League.
