Obituary for Rose Barnett Woodcock
Rose Barnett Woodcock, 86, died September 7, 2021 at her home. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City, Mississippi. The family will receive friends and family at 3:30 pm
Rose was born on March 29, 1935, in Yazoo City, MS, the daughter of the late Jasper and Mamie Barnett. Rose married Clint Woodcock and had 1 son, Jason, who brought great joy to their lives.
When Jason attended college at Hinds and then Southern, Rose decided to also pursue a college education and earned a bachelor’s degree as an adult. Rose was known for her determined spirit. Rose was a faithful member of Elton Woods Church of God in Byram, MS since moving to the Jackson area. She had a dedication to God and her family. She spent much time reading her Bible and found comfort in God’s word throughout her life. Rose Grew up in Yazoo City, MS. She loved telling her granddaughters stories of the mischief she and her siblings got into growing up there.
She was preceded in death by husband, Clint Woodcock; parents, Jasper and Mamie Barnett, and 4 brothers, Bobby Barnett, June Barnett, Paul Barnett, and Johnny Barnett.
She is survived by her son, Jason Woodcock and his wife Beth of Clinton; her two granddaughters, Jess and Ellen Woodcock. Rose is also survived by brothers and sisters, Herbert Barnett of Wesson, MS; Ruby Nell Moore of Yazoo City, MS; Emma Prescott of Bentonia, MS; Mae Weeks of Texas and many beloved nieces and nephews.
