Obituary for Ronnie Wood
RONNIE L. WOOD, SR. U.S. ARMY VETERAN
Ronnie L. Wood, Sr., 75, of Clinton, MS, formerly of Houston, PA, passed away peacefully August 26, 2018 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 16, 1943 in Anniston, AL, the son of the late Curtis and Rachel Pope Wood.
A United States Army Veteran, Mr. Wood served his country in the Third Infantry Division in Germany during the 1960s. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Management from Allegheny County Community College in Pennsylvania and he also took several classes at Mississippi State University.
He worked for Cooper Industries in Pennsylvania for 27 years and later worked for Cooper Industries as a Production Manager. Mr. Wood retired from Lowe’s in 2016.
Mr. Wood never met a stranger, and in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, he invited a family of twenty displaced people to his home while he and his wife volunteered for the Red Cross. He was an avid reader, loved to dance, and traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He attended St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Madison.
He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, of 54 years; a daughter, Kristy Ann Frock; granddaughters, Maura Frock Cotton (James) and Allison Paige Frock, all of Clinton, MS; and sister, Barbara Siskey, of Oxford, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Wood, Jr.; brothers: L.C., Calvin, Hoyt, Elvin, and Donald Wood; and sisters: Lillian Kirk, Louise Cushey, and Catherine Reeder.
Services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Madison, MS at 1:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon.
A visitation and graveside services will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania
