Robert Morris Malone, 69, went to be with his Lord on October 31, 2023. Born in Morrilton, Arkansas on
August 30, 1954, Robert lived in Jackson, MS and Birmingham, AL.
Robert was a true entrepreneur and started many businesses during his career, including Malone Sales and Bingo Depot.
Visitation will be on Saturday, November 11,2023, at Hickory Ridge Baptist Church in Florence, MS, starting at 10:00am with the funeral to follow at 11:00.
Arrangements are being overseen by Sebrell Funeral Home.
Robert was known for being able to fix just about anything, especially if it involved electronics. He loved gadgets and passed tha
love on to his children. Some of the other things he really loved were bologna sandwiches, Oreos, and Twinkies; his sweet tooth was infamous, and you didn’t dare leave your candy laying around because it would “disappear”! Robert could talk to anyone about anything and never met a stranger; these personality traits served him well throughout his life. He had a great sense of humor and was always quick with a joke or a witty comeback. He definitely loved being around people and
made friends from all walks of life. Robert loved to love and to be loved! His children say he was a
wonderful gift giver. While Robert loved all types of music, Motown and country were his favorite…and
Reba McEntire was his biggest crush!
Robert’s life was forever changed for the better the day he met his late wife, Kathy, because he had
finally found the person who had been made for him. They crammed a lifetime of love into the time
they had together, which was far too short, and he cared for her with loving devotion during her last years.
Anyone who ever met Robert commented on his beautiful blue eyes. As someone said, “Your eyes are
the window to your soul; they say everything your lips can’t.” That was especially important after
Robert suffered a stroke and was unable to express himself in words. His caretakers always talked about
how he talked to them with “those blue eyes”.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Kathryn “Kathy” Wesson Malone, his parents and
stepparents, Fred “Ray” and Muriel Malone and Donald “Andy” and Darline Anderson, a brother, Cliff
James, and a nephew, Jason Lane. In reality, the prefix “step” didn’t exist in either of these families, and
he always felt so lucky to have two sets of parents who loved him greatly.
Robert will be deeply missed by his children, Stacey Malone Voss (Shane) of Fort Worth, TX, and Robert
Ray Malone (Krista) of Florence, MS; his grandchildren, Ashlynn (Daniel), Allison, Adyson, Avery,
Maddox, Kailee, Ryder, and Joanna; and his great grandchildren, Colt, Kaelynn, Seven, and Oaklynn. He is
also survived by his siblings, Nancy Malone Lane (Jesse), Richard James (Debbie), and Bryan Leonard
James.
Thank you to the staff at Briar Hill Rest Home who lovingly cared for Robert.
