Rhynehardt E. Neubert, Jr. 1933 – 2023
Rhyne E. Neubert, Jr. peacefully went to be with the Lord on June 15, 2023.
Rhyne, was born on April 21, 1933, to Sara Stevens Neubert and Rhynehardt Eugene Neubert.
He grew up in Okolona, Mississippi and spent part of his childhood in Memphis, Tennessee
before returning to Okolona for junior high and high school.
He attended Mississippi State University earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in
accounting. During this time, he also joined the National Guard where he served for almost a
decade. In 1958, he moved to Jackson, Mississippi to start his career in public accounting.
Rhyne also joined First Baptist Church at that time.
Shortly thereafter, Rhyne met the love of his life, Cecelia Lois Pigott, and they were married at
First Baptist in 1961. They had two children, Lisa Neubert Chisholm and David Rhynehardt
Neubert.
Rhyne lived a life of service to his savior Jesus Christ’s church, his family, and his profession.
Professionally, Rhyne led KPMG Peat Marwick’s Jackson tax practice until retirement in 1990.
Through his years, he served on numerous boards and committees for Mississippi State
University, the Mississippi Society of CPAs, Mississippi Baptist Healthcare Systems, and others.
Rhyne was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His encouragement and counsel were
always a blessing to his family. His special and loving care for his wife Cecelia during the last
years of her life was an inspiration to the family.
Rhyne was a deacon at First Baptist and held roles as overall chair, finance chair, and vision
chair. Most of all, he loved to study and teach God’s word. During retirement, he spent
countless hours studying Scripture, teaching Sunday school, and preparing lessons distributed
as a resource to other teachers. His hope was in the Lord.
Rhyne is predeceased by wife Cecelia Pigott Neubert, his father and mother, and his brother
Hunter Stevens Neubert. He is survived by his two children Lisa Neubert Chisholm (Stuart) and
David Rhynehardt Neubert (Laura), his five grandchildren Andrew Rhynehardt Chisholm (Kelly),
Sara Frances Chisholm Horan (Hayden), Elizabeth Clementine Neubert, Katherine Cecelia
Neubert and Nicholas Daniel Rhynehardt Neubert, and his two great-grandchildren Mary
Rhynehardt Horan and Ann McKay Horan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be directed to First Baptist Church of
Jackson, Mississippi.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Friday June 23, 2023, at the chapel of First Baptist Church of
Jackson with a service to follow at 11:00 am. A private family burial is planned.
