Obituary for Rebecca "Becky" Bowering
Rebecca Williams “Becky” Bowering passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 78.
A native of Madison County, MS, born January 14, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Merton E. Williams, Sr. and the late Jimmie Jackson Williams.
She was an active member of Damascus Baptist Church. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, spoiling them with her fabulous cooking. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Elon Newton Bowering; brother, Merton Williams, Jr.; and her sisters, Ann Day and Elizabeth Candreia.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles Elon Bowering, Sr., of Flora; daughter, Paige Chandler (Russ), of Flora; sons, Charles Elon Bowering, Jr., of Jackson and Michael Todd Bowering (Niki), of Peachtree City, GA; sister, Lila Jean Stennett, of Marietta, GA; grandchildren: Hunter Bowering (Megan), Sawyer Bowering, Jackson Bowering, Stone Bowering, Riley Chandler, and Alix Chandler; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Graveside services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Powell Thompson Cemetery in Flora, the Rev. Tray Earnhart officiating.
Visitation 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Damascus Baptist Church in Flora.
