Obituary for Raymond Alford Johnson
Raymond was born on June 12th 1943 to Mildred and Raymond Johnson in California. He grew up in New Mexico and Lebanon Tennessee, later making Jackson Mississippi his home.Raymond proudly served in the US Navy as a SEAL during Vietnam. He was a graduate from Middle Tennessee State University with a M.A. in psychology. Raymond dedicated his life to helping those with mental illness and addiction. To all those who knew him he was an inspiration and a great mentor. He was a committed and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. His compassion for those in need was selfless. Raymond was a lover of animals and brought many rescues home. He enjoyed traveling, reading, riding his motorcycle and was a gun enthusiast. There are no words to described how greatly he will be missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lendon. He is survived by his wife Karen Phillips Johnson, daughter Leslie Allen (Jeff) and 3 grandchildren, Brady, Reed and Sadie. He also leaves behind eight dog children and a cat. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Thursday, October 21st 2016 at Sebrell Funeral Home, and 10:00 A.M. on Friday at Raymond United Methodist Church, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 A.M..In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cheshire Abbey Animal Rescue at cheshireabbey@gmail.com through Paypal, or to CARA.
