Obituary for Perry C. Waggener
Perry C Waggener 60, passed away peacefully at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland Saturday April 30, 2022 after losing his battle with cancer. Visitation will be held at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 2070 Spillway Rd Brandon Monday evening from 5 pm - 8 pm. There will be a short visitation Tuesday morning at 10 am followed by a service to be officiated by Jim Blaha assistant pastor at Lakeside Presbyterian Church at 11 am. Following the service will be a short gravesite service at Lakewood Memorial Cemetery in Clinton.
Perry was born November 16, 1961 in Jackson the son of the late Dennis Alton Waggener and Johnnie Perry Waggener. He earned his college degree at Mississippi College in Clinton Ms. While he was in college he worked for the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District as a spillway operator but soon left that job after his graduation to begin his lifelong career in law enforcement. He worked for the Madison County Sheriffs Department first as a dispatcher than as a deputy sheriff he ultimately became an investigator. He returned to the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District as a patrolman and was promoted to Chief of the Reservoir Police Department in 2006. He served 14 years in this position before his retirement in 2020.
Perry loved his job but when he took a break he really enjoyed taking Caribbean cruises with his wife Debbie and he especially loved the island of Cozumel. He also enjoyed hunting with his brother Charlie at their deer camp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Waggener Jr and his sister Eva Marie Waggener who died as an infant. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Debbie Schmidt Waggener, brother Charles K Waggener (Annette), Nieces Eva Price (Timmy), Jacey Petty (Ronny), Stephanie Waggener, Jordan Schmidt (Cas), Casey Waggener as well as 2 great nephews.
The pallbearers will be Chief Trevell Dixon, Lieutenant Carlos DiPuma, Sergeant Patrick LeBrun, Sergeant Charlie Morehead, Corporal Wesley Dip and Deputy Michael Gober.
