Obituary for Peggy Jean Holman
Peggy Jean Holman, 83, of Flowood, Mississippi was called to heaven on Sunday, November 20, 2016 of natural causes. Peggy Jean Holman was born Peggy Jean Lamb on November 2, 1933 in Sarasota, Florida to the late Mary Christina Starrak and William Horace Lamb. She was the youngest of 2 beautiful girls and lost her sister, Evelyn Nelms in 2008. After graduating from Sarasota High School and working at Merrill Lynch, she met the love of her life, Alfred Francis Holman, an Airman 1st Class in the United States Air Force stationed in Tampa, Florida during the Korean War. The couple was married on May 11, 1955 at St. Martha Catholic Church in Sarasota, Florida. While a Florida girl at heart, Peggy moved with her new husband, Al, to Whiting, Indiana. After the birth of her two sons, the late Michael Francis Holman and David Mark Holman, and a longing to return to the South, Al & Peggy moved to Cape Kennedy, Florida but eventually settled in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Peggy faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking/baking from scratch – including cakes, cookies, vanilla milkshakes, and sewing. She volunteered at the boys’ school and eventually took a full time job in the school office. Hurricane Katrina forced Al & Peggy to move to Flowood, Mississippi. Much to Peggy’s delight, the move landed them almost walking distance to Belk’s Department Store. Married for 61 years, Peggy & Al traveled extensively and collected Lighthouses from around the world. We always believed the Lighthouses reminded Peggy of her childhood on the beautiful beaches of Florida. Peggy never knew a stranger and loved to talk - to anyone. She is the best example of unconditional love. She never sought attention for herself and always sacrificed her needs for that of her family and friends, even passing away so close to Thanksgiving holiday, so no one would have to miss work. Peggy is survived by her husband, Al Holman, who loved and cared for her, her son, D. Mark Holman and his wife, Colette Holman, her daughter-in-law, Debbie Holman, her five grandchildren Chris Holman and his wife, Monica Holman, Jessica Holman, M. Ryan Holman, Hunter Holman & Hayden Holman and her one great-grandson Steele Holman. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 5971 Highway 25, Flowood, Mississippi 39232 In lieu of flowers, we hope you will do an unexpected and unsolicited act of kindness for some poor unfortunate soul in Peggy’s name. Peggy is finally reunited with her son, Michael Francis Holman.
