Obituary for Peggy C. Brown

Peggy Causey Brown, 68, of Madison, went home to see Jesus on June 20, 2023, surrounded by her beautiful family.

Peggy was born on March 29, 1955, to George Davis and Thelma Lane Causey in Clearwater, FL. She later moved to Jackson where she graduated from Forest Hill High School and attended Holmes Community College. She married the love of her life, Eugene Brown, Jr. She became his helpmate though the tough years of Dental School and his Orthodontic Residency. Peggy worked alongside Gene as the receptionist in the early days of private practice and eventually became the Office Manager who was dearly loved by all who worked for the Orthodontic practice. This coming August 27th, Peggy and Gene would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Peggy enjoyed such a variety of activities. She loved traveling, especially with her grandchildren. Whether it be Maine or Hawaii, she made the best of every opportunity to share her experiences with her loved ones. She could often be heard saying “Maui is my piece of Heaven here on earth.” Saturday travel was reserved for, you guessed it, Ole Miss Football. She bled red out of one arm and blue out of the other! Another piece of Peggy’s Heaven here on earth was her horses, dogs and cats. She loved them fiercely. It was often said how fortunate you would be that after you die, you came back as one of Peggy Brown’s animals. A lot of truth for sure.

Peggy’s deepest desire of all was that others knew of the Saving Grace and Love of her Savior, Christ Jesus. Together, she and Gene formed Soul Purpose Productions, a music ministry that brought Christian Music to the Jackson and Mid-Mississippi areas. Many came to know the love of Jesus through this Concert Ministry. Children were so dear to her heart that she sponsored many through Compassion International and But God Ministries. She especially loved putting together shoeboxes with her grandchildren for Operation Christmas Child, teaching them to bring the love of Jesus to a desperate world. And that Peggy did. She touched lives here at home and all over the world. And we are grateful that we get to call her our very own throughout eternity.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Eugene C. Brown JR, and her brother, Dr. Alan L. Causey (Jan); her daughters, Stephanie Powell (Jayce) and Stacy Brown; Peggy is also survived by her grandchildren, Marcie and Clayton McDaniel, Kayleigh and Taylor Sykes; her niece and nephew, Annie Causey and Tully Causey (Katharine). She was preceded in death by her parents: George Davis and Thelma Lane Causey.

Her Home Going Celebration will be Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Colonial Heights Baptist Church, with visitation Thursday 6:00-8:00 at Sebrell Funeral Home and Friday at 10:00 AM at Colonial Heights.

Memorials can be made to But God Ministries 118 Homestead Drive, Suite D Madison, MS 39110 or online at https://www.butgodministries.com/how-to-get-involved/give-online/
