Mr. Oscar Young, Jr. was born on December 28, 1948 in Georgetown, Mississippi to the late Oscar Young, Sr. and Sarah Lou Johnson Young. He attended Holtzclaw High School where he was Drum Major in the marching band. In 1965, he answered an inner call and enlisted in the United States Army where he served in combat in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the Army with the rank of Sergeant First-Class.
Upon leaving the military, he was employed as a private detective. Then he became employed with Elgin-Honey Hill Trucking Company and from there he went to work for the First Student Bus Company where he was employed for 17 years.
Being very mechanically inclined, Oscar was a “Mr. Fix-It” to family, friends, and neighbors. To his children, he was dad & daddy and papi & granddad to his grandchildren. Family referred to him as Jr. and his nephews & nieces (who were ALL his favorite) called him Uncle Jr. By any name, he will be greatly missed by all! Having a smile that lit up a room, a witty sense of humor, and a suave demeanor drew people to him and everybody loved him dearly!
Mr. Young transitioned from this life on September 17, 2022 in Jackson, Ms. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Keith Bryant and his Adult Siblings: Hattie Mae Bolden, Betty Lou Harper, Clayton Young, Eula Mae Pate, and Mary Grace White.
To cherish his memory, he leaves daughters: Patricia
