Obituary for Nancy Lane Yonkers
Nancy Lane Yonkers, 78, died Sunday, September 5, 2021 at St. Dominic Hospital. A graveside will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Flora Cemetery. The Reverend Scott Carter will officiate.
Nancy was born on July 16, 1943, in Flora, the daughter of the late Marvin Forest Lane and Katherine Hawkins Lane. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi and retired after many years of service to the Veterans Administration Hospital where she worked in the Medical Records Department.
Nancy loved her church and was both a long time member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and Flora United Methodist Church. She loved to travel and sing and was known to be outspoken at times. Nancy cherished her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Childress, Joe Childress, Lee Childress, Ben Childress, and Don Lane.
She will be most remembered as a beloved mother, a devoted grandmother, a cherished sister and loving friend.
She is survived by son Robert James Yonkers Jr., and his wife Diane of Terry; grandchildren, Austin, Adam and Shelby Yonkers; a sister, Kay Hunt and her husband Bill of Flora and numerous nieces and nephews. Nancy is also survived by her former husband and best friend Robert Yonkers, Sr.
