Obituary for Mitchell Brackett Giles
Mitchell Brackett Giles, 26, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 in Jackson, MS. Mitch was born into a loving family on August 6, 1990 at Women’s Hospital in Flowood. He attended school in Victoria, TX and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed skateboarding, gardening, hunting and fishing. Left behind to celebrate his life and mourn his loss are his wife, Erin Smith Giles; son Grayson Giles; mother Aden Brackett Giles of Jackson; father Doug Giles and sisters Alexandra Giles and Hayley Giles of Victoria, TX; grandmother Jan Brackett of Jackson; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Charles Ray Brackett and by Wayne Walters. Mitch fought a lengthy battle with drug addiction; he had been sober for six months and seemed solidly on the road to recovery when he relapsed in a weak moment that cost him his life. The family prays that Mitch’s death will encourage others to seek help for those who struggle with the deadly disease of addiction. Visitation will be from 7:00pm-8:00pm on Wednesday, March 29th, 2017 at Sebrell Funeral Home and a Funeral Service will be at St. Andrews Episcopal Cathedral at 11:00am, Thursday, March 30th, 2017 with a visitation beginning at 10:00am. A private family burial will be held a later date.
